A Vietnam looking build

I wanted to get semi Vietnam looking stuff. I wanted to run midcaps somewhere down the road. I could just play either role well enough (Americans or Vietcong) By simply dropping the pith and wearing a boonie or something. I mean, any imput to this? Would that at least be a good way of being able to build a rig of carrying a decent amount midcaps without actually dropping for a molle rig? And it could stay somewhat within the timeline? I do want to get a Vietnam M16 down the road but for now, I though I could get a belt, throw the 3 cell pouch on it, a holster for my handgun and look somewhat era? Any help or suggestions?

I'm thinking of something like. the M1956 Web Gear and instead of all the extra crap, just have those pouches I posted above and anything else for small knick nacks I bring into the field. Maybe a rucksack and the AK pouches.
