M4 complete teardown Systema

Post  Disco on Sat Jul 10, 2010 3:50 pm

So at the op I noticed that my really good UTG M4 Systema was not shooting very good at all and the fps was way down at 230 fps. So instead of using it at the op I went to my back up.

I took the UTG apart all the way down to the dissembling the gearbox and found a couple broken and worn out parts. Its a pretty big deal to take this thing apart since it is a systema gear box and retails between $250 and $300 just for the gearbox itself. So I was under immense pressure to get it all back together and working right. Ohh did i mention that ive never taken a gearbox apart? I went ahead and replaced a broken spring guide with a guarder Ball bearing one. Found a worn nozzle so I got a prometheus replacement and just for good measure I replaced the spring with a new M120.

After a long and tiring ordeal I managed to get the gearbox and gun all back together and it seems to be working properly. Its shooting right at 400 fps on average and straight as an arrow.

If you are suggesting that I either call up Systema or UTG then you must be misunderstanding my post or the gun itself.

I bought the gun barely used from a friend. He bought the UTG M4 new with UTG internals and was dissatisfied with the performance of the gun but liked the overall construction and look of the gun. So he built it up to the east that it is today. He replaced the gearbox with a systema gear box, the barrel and hop up with prom units and a few other goodies as well. So basically the gun is a bastard that has no single mother and works amazingly. The first few times I used it I was getting amazing shots from 200+ feet away. I have no complaints at all about this gun. Well maybe one complaint it is a bit heavy and wont accurately hit a target at 600 feet. Razz

Another point here is that the gun is used and well used ive put thousands and thousands of rounds through it since I never miss a game day and make numerous others when we are not playing. So calling and complaining about a guns internals getting worn out over time and being used would be obsurd. An airsoft gun is a high wear item get used to that. Very Happy
